Texas Comes to Washington...

Another visit from my sister! This has been a great year of visits. Christmas 07, 3 weeks last summer, a cancelled flight in Jan brought a surprise visit, and now she is here again for a few days. She leaves tomorrow and I have to say I am always a little bummed when she goes but lately it has been, "oh we will see you in (insert short time frame)...". She will be back in June.

Another great thing about her visits is my daughter Taylor has really taken a liking to her. Since the first day we picked up Jennifer from the airport that Christmas day my sister said to her, "you are my new bff...", so now Tay calls her her bff, not her aunt. And now my sister has an incredible boyfriend, Michael, the guy who actually introduced me to my husband. They have been friends for 10+ years. Amazing how everything turns out huh? Michael introduced me to Garrett so to thank him I introduced him to my sister. Michael has been a part of Taylors life since
she was born and now is Uncle Monkey.
Tomorrow the two of them will head back to Spokane to pack up Michael to hit the road and drive to Texas. He is moving to Texas. :(
We will miss visits from Uncle Monkey and our BFF... Can't wait for the next time we can see them!!!

Toilet Terror!?!

A necessity for everyone on a daily basis, for some, like myself, 100 times a day, the toilet is something we never give a second thought. My child on the other hand, I believe overthinks the toilet. She has a terrible fear of the toilet, that is the only thing I can think it can be!

Taylor has never been a fan of public restrooms because she didn't like the dirtiness or something. I didn't teach her that. But let me go back a year or so. It started last spring when I put 2000 flushes in our home toilets. She was terrified of the blue water! She would not use her bathroom until the water had faded back to clear. I had to put my hand in the water and show her it was still a normal toilet. And that is when the public toilet fears started.
Then today make a trip to WalMart and I immediately make a trip to the bathroom and I of course always make her try to go. I do this because if I don't, with out fail, 5-7 minutes after we are far from a bathroom she will start the famous, "pee-pee dance" even though I just asked her if she had to go and she of course said, "no mommy." We walk in, things are great, I am think this is going to be easy, I tell her to "go in and go in and go potty"... and then, it starts! The tears start coming! "Mommy come in with me, mommy it flushes by itself, mommy I am scared!"
Scared of a toilet! I have never heard of something so crazy! The dark, spiders, and heights, sure, but a toilet?

Jumping on the Bandwagon!

After jumping from blog to blog of everyone from my "childhood" I have decided to make a blog of my own so that everyone can keep up with me if they choose to do so. Lucky y'all! I will do a quick 10 year recap to bring you up-to-date with my life and then from now on I will do regular updates.

  • After a year at SHSU I moved to Washington State in May of 2001.
  • Have been working off and on at different places, nothing too exciting.
  • Fast forward 6 years because nothing special happened.
  • January of 07 I met Garrett, April we started dating, a year later we were engaged.
  • September of 2007 I decided to finally go back to school!
  • February 14, 2008 we got awarded temporary custody of his daughter, and April 7, 2008 it was made permanent.
  • May 23, 2008 we got Married.
  • June 2, 2008 he left for a deployment and on October 12, 2008 he finally got home!
  • December brought another short deployment, my hunnie bunnie Taylor celebrated her 6th birthday on Christmas day, and it was our first holiday season as a Mr&Mrs. and a happy family, all together.

That pretty much brings us up to date. Amazing I can sum up the last 8 years of my life in 9 bullet points! In a short 3 months we will be celebrating a year of marriage and in a short 4 months I will be graduating from college with my associates degree. My how time does fly! I look forward to keeping up with friends through my new found blogspot!
